If you were to ask me what the most relaxing, fun, entertaining and friendly holiday vacations would be, I would have to tell you that is the ability to hire your very own houseboat, pack up the kids (and bring your friends along too) head to the river and go on the ride of your life! A houseboat vacation is one of the best holidays I have ever been on.

Last summer I was looking at taking a break and going on a holiday with my family and friends, but we didnt want to take the same old holiday we go on plus we didnt want to break the bank in the process. So I began looking over the net trying to find a getaway escape that was fun, exciting and most of all a little bit different than what most people would do around this time of the year. The answer, houseboat hire.

You betcha, I stumbled upon a site that was all about houseboats and houseboat hire and I was presently surprised on how little it cost to rent out a boat for one week without any crew having to come along with us and hang around like they do when you take a chartered yacht etc, and get this we could fit 12 people comfortably on the houseboat with no worries at all!

Basically the houseboat hire company just gave us a brief run through on how the boat worked, how to drive it and small maintenance duties (we were on it for a week dont forget) and that was it, 7 days of magical fun and entertainment for everyone that come along. Our Murray River houseboat cruise entailed magnificent sunrises and sunsets, swimming, waterskiing, fishing and more importantly kicking back with a nice cold beverage!

My best advice for you would be to find a houseboat hire company that rents out modern and stylish houseboats. Its good getting onboard an older style boat but when you have designer kitchens, bathrooms, spas and plasma screens it feels like youre in a 5 star hotel, on the water!
