Your Breckenridge Ski Vacation

Your Breckenridge Ski Vacation
By Matthew Kellmer

You'll be welcome with open arms in Breckenridge, Colorado. Breckenridge ski resort offer the world's finest powder and terrain anyone can imagine. Half of the slopes at Breckenridge ski and snowboard resort are for beginners, while the other half are for moderate to extreme skiing. Breckenridge is the only ski area to offer this much skiing for all types of ability levels.

The town of Breckenridge is just like you would dream about on the way to your ski vacation. The town has a Main st. with stores, restaurants, and variety. You won't be disappointed as you stroll down Breckenridge's Main Street; the main area is about -mile long and makes for a lovely walk during the daytime or nighttime.

As far as resorts go, you can stay in a classy hotel and pay big bucks, or you can stay just outside of town nestled in the Rockies. Many condos are located a few miles down the road on RT. 9 otherwise known as Main Street.

If you decide to book a condo out of town, you'll get a better sense of what a mountain vacation is all about. On top of this advantage, you can also expect to pay significantly less than if you stay in the busy town of Breckenridge . Be prepared to breathe the fresh Colorado mountain air. It's truly invigorating!

As the seasons change in Breckenridge, Colorado your outdoor options expand and contract. Once Spring comes, the skiing gets better and the temperature goes up. Yes, it still snows hard in the Spring time.

The only difference is the quality of the snow. It tends to be wetter than the winter when it is dry-fluffy snow. Either way, it's great and you'll love the Spring time snow as much as the Winter snow. After all, the base of Breckenridge in April is about 60 inches deep.

Summer time in Breckenridge is truly a beautiful time! You can fish the streams for Rocky Mountain trout or you can mountain bike, raft, boat (Lake Dillon) or just relax in the heart of the Rocky Mountains. There will never be a boring day during your Breckenridge ski or summer vacation.

Fly fishing is a very enjoyable sport to engage in during the Summer time. It seems like every stream or lake in the Rockies, houses some of the largest trout in the world. Since fishing season is only 5-months out of the year, the trout seem to jump right on to the hook. Just kidding of course! It's not that easy to catch Trout, but if you use the right flies, you just might find the statement above to be true.

Mountain bike trails are everywhere, but be careful!! Be sure to have a map and enough food & water in case you get lost. The smartest thing to do is mark your course with sticks in the ground if you have any doubts about not getting back home or to your vehicle.

As long as you are sure of this, you're going to have a great time. Breckenridge offers mountain bike trails that go to the tops of mountains and down to the valleys. The scenery is breathtaking and without a doubt, you're going to love mountain biking in Breckenridge, CO.

As far as rafting goes, there are many options within 20-miles of Breckenridge. The water flows highest around mid-July because of all the snow which has melted from the mountains. There are plenty of guided trips who will help you navigate through the rivers.

Once you experience all the Breckeridge has to offer, you'll surely come back every year to enjoy yourself again and again. Also, did you know the state of Colorado has more blue sky days than any other state in the U.S.? It's true!

Sleepless In Seattle You're In The Right City

Sleepless In Seattle - You're In The Right City
By Leah Bradicich

Forget the rain, forget the cold; everyones heard of this historic city so Seattleites must be right on the money. Whether it be for history, grunge rock or movie trivia, Seattle is firmly on the global map.

If any place can credit itself as a linchpin city for development and unearthing talent, Seattle is one of those places. Seattle is the birthplace of bands like Nirvana and Pearl Jam (the founders of grunge rock), and bands like Death Cab for Cutie, Foo Fighters, Soundgarden and Alice in Chains. The crme de la crme obviously is Jimi Hendrix himself.

Other famous Seattleites and claims to fame are Bill Gates of the Microsoft empire, the TV sitcom Frasier, movie Sleepless in Seattle with Tom Hanks, movie 10 Things I Hate About You and TV series Greys Anatomy.

The Crocodile Caf is an institution for alternative music enthusiasts. Artists like Eddie Vedder, Death Cab for Cutie, Elliot Smith and K. T. Tunstall have played here, as a testament to its importance in the local music scene.

For more historic sites, venture to the Experience Music Project (EMP) (left) for a museum to modern composition. Jimi Hendrix has his own wing, which makes way to a guitar wing and exhibits on different styles; like the rock, grunge and punk movements. You can also play around with instruments in some exhibits.

While were on cool tourist traps, you cant go past the legendary Seattle Space Needle (right), which reaches up 605 feet into the sky. Not only is it an amazing view stretching as far as the eye can see, but its also part of Seattle culture. The Needle is famously depicted in the silhouette credits of Seattle sitcom Frasier, one of the worlds most popular sitcoms in history.

For another must see spot, head to Pike Place Markets. While it is packed with crowds on weekends, this flea market style, open- air market is worth a decent wander. Flower stalls litter the streets as do fresh seafood stalls and vegetable stands. Contrary to popular flea market opinion, this market is clean, modern and atmospheric. PS. coffee lovers, Starbucks has its first original store right here! Bring your walking shoes.

But before you take them off, let those shoes take you through a tour of the Seattle Underground. After the Great Seattle Fire in 1889, the city raised the CBD building levels, leaving an underground city in developing Seattles wake. For a couple of hours, you can now walk amongst what used to be the heart of the city, but what is now a refurbished yet rotting, historic, subterranean ruin. Fascinating stuff.

Technically, there is a long list of great things to do that have been missed out here, so don't be afraid if you think that's it! It merely means the page isn't big enough to include it all. There are tonnes of musical and artistic things to see and visit, plus some great history that is worth a good look. Maybe you can also take a drive around to try and spot famous places of interest, since Seattle is idolized in so many movies and TV shows.

If you want to tackle the move/ TV trivia spots (like those house boats from Sleepless in Seattle, above), or even if you just want to discover your own favourite places, a good option is to rent your own cheap Seattle car and do it at your own pace. We have all the major suppliers in one site, so you can compare and be sure you're getting the best deal and the cheapest price.

By Caitlin Moore

The panhandle of Florida elegantly displays its prized vacation destinations like jewels on a graceful, sweeping arm. Theres no doubt that the scenery along this special stretch of the Gulf of Mexico, which is also known as the Emerald Coast for reasons youll discover when you see it for yourself, is worth a visit sometime in your life. Fort Walton is near Destin, another gem, but occupies its own privileged perch along this enchanting emerald-hued coast. Once youve decided that this is the place to go, after all it does have everything you need to relax, recharge, refresh, and re-anything else you need to do, youll want to set yourself up for the most successful trip possible. Do this by renting a vacation property instead of a traditional hotel room. If youve never treated yourself to this experience before, youre in for a treat.

To get a feel for all that a Fort Walton vacation rental would entail, lets imagine a specific property. First, the basics; it sits on the Gulf, is professionally decorated, and its three bedrooms and three baths will give your group plenty of room to avoid cramping one anothers style. The view is spectacular, overlooking the beach and also a nearby pool, so plan to spend some quality time out on the balcony. Factor in walk-in closets and whirlpool tubs, and you can start to get a feel for the accessible luxury that is to come.

Several magazines have voted this region one of the best beaches in the country, and its also considered quite family-friendly and filled with activities. In other words, in not just beautiful, its blessed with energy and variety as well. Eco-tours, museums, water sports and fine seafood restaurants will all keep you pretty busy, as will the urge to allow the roll of the surf to mesmerize you into a state of deep calm. Youll surely run around a bit during this getaway, but youll also do some napping and zoning out, which is just what you need.

But back to the condo, beach bungalow, or town home that youll soon be calling your home away from home. Cooking utensils and a dishwasher are mundane things that youll come to truly appreciate, as will you love the option to keep a few basic food items on hand. Quick snacks and simple meals will allow you save a few bucks, and hunger pangs wont have to drag you away from your cozy abode unless you feel like getting out.

Not that its encouraged to use these items of technology during what is supposed to be a break from the headaches of the real world, but WiFi, DVD players, and radios are standard inclusions in most vacation rentals. Check your email if you must, but dont feel guilty about leaving it all behind for a while, either. Itll be good for you, and everything will be just where you left it when you get back.

If it sounds like a vacation property would suit your style just fine, then investigate all the choices that are out there. Big groups often find comfort in sprawling condos or big houses on the beach, while couples will be delighted to come across cute little hideaways perfect for nesting.

Planning Your Beach Vacations

Planning Your Beach Vacations
By Ross Bainbridge

Taking a vacation has become essential to escape the pressures of daily life. Vacations provide opportunities to recharge our bodies and make them ready to face our responsibilities with renewed vigor and enthusiasm. It is, therefore, important to carefully plan your vacation to make the most out of your time and money.

In planning your beach vacation, it is very important to consider how much money you are planning to spend. A budget must be smartly set, setting flexible limits for emergency vacation costs. Once you have set your financial limit, ask yourself what beach you're going to. Do we want to visit the beaches that we have grown accustomed to or are we ready to explore other beaches? Knowing where to go provides the right framework for planning your beach vacation. Travel options will also be considered once you know what beach you're going to. This will also determine transportation considerations.

Planning also entails packing the things that you will need for your beach vacation. Packing light is always practical yet may be hard to do. Packing appropriately may be a better term for ensuring you have everything you need for every activity that you plan to involve yourself in while vacationing. These include clothes, accessories and toiletries. Vacation staples also include cameras, good reading material, and a music player.

Take advantage of available deals and specials when planning your beach vacation. Finding great discount deals are a godsend since not only does it save you money, it also works with your needs in mind. Taking advantage of the perfect deal to fit your needs also saves you time and effort to look for lodging and even to plan activities to make your trip worthwhile.

That Sinking Feeling

That Sinking Feeling
By Casey Quinlan

I have a confession to make. Im a recovering boatasexual. You dont know what that is? Thats when your most significant other is a boat. Trust me, folks - this is a toxic relationship!

It is said that the happiest days of a boat owners life are the day she buys a boat, and the day she sells it. Truer words were never spoken. It has also been said that owning a boat is like standing in a cold shower tearing up $20 bills. This is not true. Youre tearing up $100 bills, at least.

All my friends were shopping madly, all over town, buying clothes, shoes, furniture. I was at Home Depot melting my Visa card on stuff like stainless steel piano hinge. Wood plugs. Router bits. I do have every power tool known to God and Bob Vila, so Tim Allen, kiss mykeel. I was committed to this relationship. Committed? I was certifiable I lived on my boat. And what a harsh house-mother she was, too.

As you read this, raise your arms so your hands are close together, right over your head. Keep them there for four hours. Every spring, I was forced to do this for days at a time. Holding a ten pound grinder. Carpal tunnel? I had the entire carpal subway system.

Every task I undertook involved a toxic chemical. My life became an EPA Superfund site. Most of the containers had a warning label that said A brain tumor in every can now thats what I call a warning label!

The first summer I had the boat I was determined to practice safe boating I wore a TyVek suit when I was painting her. Have you ever worn a TyVek suit? When it was 100 degrees? Its like being locked in a sauna for hours at a time. I did lose 10 pounds that summer, though - in addition to about a billion brain cells from the paint fumes.

The entire relationship was co-dependent. The boat wanted to dissolve like an aspirin, and I had to prevent it from dissolving like an aspirin. Bit by bit, the boat was winning. The teak decks leaked no matter how many times I re-caulked them. The engine developed multiple personality disorder. The lines would fray even if they were coiled up in the rope locker. The fenders deflated. Then she tried to throw me overboard the lifeline stanchions on the starboard side all broke at the same time.

This was a fight to the finish.

It was that old relationship conundrum - divorce? Never! Murder? Quite possibly. The boat did have reason to wish me harm I HAD grounded her within fifteen minutes of our first voyage together. And there were the groundings in the Piankatank River, Boston Harbor, Rockaway Bay, and Sandy Hook.

She harbored a grudge.

And after everything I did for her, too.

I gave her a complete makeover from top to bottom I rewired and painted her mast, I replaced her batteries and rewired the cabin, I completely redid her hull with the BEST isophthalic polyester-resin (say that three times fast) I gave her all of my spare time and more than all of my spare cash. I even bought her jewelry new rudder fittings made of silicon bronze that cost over $2,000. Ive never spent that much on jewelry for myself!

We had wonderful adventures together trips to Marthas Vineyard, Nantucket and Cape Cod. We sailed up the Hudson River and down the coast to Cape May.

But it was never enough. She always needed, demanded more.

The end finally came one day in November of 2000 Id given all I could give. Id reached the end of my rope, and my checkbook.

Id reached the second happiest day of my life I sold her to a family that fell in love with her at first sight.

The poor slobs.

As I watched her sail away, I felt a twinge of sadness. Then I thought of my checkbook, which now had a positive balance. A VERY positive balance!

Ive heard that my former significant other is still up to her old tricks it took her new owners almost a month to get her from Long Island Sound to Gaylesville, Maryland. The engines multiple personality disorder kicked in, and the mainsail did its look at me! Im shredding! trick - but her new owners are determined to keep her happy. I hope they have a fat checkbook shes a hungry old girl.

So Im single again but Im a hopeless romantic. Im eyeing charter boats in the Caribbean.

When Casey Quinlan was a little girl, she didn't dream of becoming a doctor, or a teacher - she dreamed of adventure. She's lived several lives already, and is only half-way through average life expectancy. Performer, network broadcaster, sailboat liveaboard for twelve years, scuba instructor, stepmom - she's taken on some of the tough stuff and lived to tell about it. Casey's company, Mighty Casey Media, a communication consultancy that works to bridge communication gaps, can be visited on the web at http://www.mightycasey.com

Your European Vacation A Guide To Choosing European Vacation Packages

Your European Vacation - A Guide To Choosing European Vacation Packages
By Gary Hill

What do you look for in a European vacation? The romance of a Paris vacation, the buzz of some time in London, England or the relaxation and quiet peace of an alpine valley? The truth is that, with a European vacation package, you can have all of this and more.

Europe is a very diverse continent and the range of possible European vacations reflects this. In each European country you can choose from the buzz of a city visit or the relaxation of the countryside. Transport links are good and its easy to hop from country to country by plane, by train or by road. This article sets out to help you plan a European vacation that suits you.

European vacation travel tips for cheap European tours

If you want to travel Europe on a low budget then the two key issues are time and flexibility. There are now many cheap European airlines who offer budget airfares for travel between European countries. Almost without exception they offer an excellent service, and their prices are remarkably low. But you do need to be flexible both in your choice of destination and in your travel schedule timings.

European budget airlines often fly between the less popular airports and may only operate one flight a day. This means that if you miss a flight or if your flight is cancelled then you could face a long wait in a rather out of the way town or provincial airport.

The Irish airline, Ryanair, can be used as an example. Their flight billed as Glasgow to Paris departs from a town called Prestwick about forty miles from Glasgow and arrives at Beauvais, a French town about sixty miles from Paris. Coach services are provided and the service is good but you will need to add at least an hour to your journey at either end. Getting stranded late at night in Beauvais or Prestwick is not likely to be fun. You can find a list of cheap European airlines and some of their routes on the websites listed below.

If you would rather travel to Europe on a planned European Vacation Package then you will have other issues to contend with. Planned European vacation packages can sometimes be rather sterile and predictable. Some of them may almost have the effect of insulating you against anything European! The notion of being herded along on like cattle among a mass of bemused fellow travellers is not likely to appeal to many of us.

Try to find a package that will allow you the benefits of having your travel and accommodation organised but still leave time for you to branch off on your own if you want to.

Travel Europe and enjoy it. There is no right or wrong approach simply work out what suits you and your lifestyle best. You will find plenty of choice in every European country. If youve never taken a European vacation then please do consider it the possibilities are almost limitless.

Gary Hill is a travel writer based in Scotland. He travels widely in Europe and has a lifetimes hoard of travel tips and advice to draw on. His website has all you need to plan your dream European Vacations.
